Member of Parliament P.C. Gaddigoudar has forwarded a representation to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, seeking an extension of the due date for furnishing Tax Audit Reports for AY 2026-27.
In the letter dated September 25, 2026, the MP has requested that the existing deadline of September 30, 2026 be extended to October 31, 2026, along with a corresponding extension of related statutory compliances.
The representation highlights practical difficulties faced by tax professionals in completing audits within the available timeframe. It refers to the professional fraternity handling return-filing assignments up to August 31, 2026, followed by the progressive release and subsequent updates of income-tax utilities, extensive reconciliation and verification requirements, revised financial-statement requirements, and compliance obligations relating to GST, TDS/TCS and other statutory provisions.
The MP has requested the Finance Ministry to consider the representation urgently and issue the necessary notification or order for extending the tax-audit deadline to October 31, 2026. CASansaar
