Member of Parliament P.P. Chaudhary has urged Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to consider extending the due date for furnishing Tax Audit Reports for Assessment Year 2026-27 from 30 September 2026 to 31 October 2026.
In a communication dated 21 September 2026, Chaudhary forwarded a representation received from the Tax Bar Association, Jodhpur, which has sought an extension of the tax audit deadline along with consequential extension of related statutory compliances.
The Tax Bar Association, Jodhpur had submitted its representation on 18 September 2026, requesting the Finance Ministry and the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) to extend the due date for furnishing Tax Audit Reports in Forms 3CA/3CB along with Form 3CD from 30 September to 31 October 2026.
According to the representation referred to in the letter, tax professionals have been facing a compressed compliance schedule, particularly because professionals remained occupied with return-filing assignments up to 31 August 2026. It also refers to the progressive release and subsequent updates of income-tax utilities, extensive reconciliation and verification required for tax audits, revised financial-statement requirements, and the simultaneous burden of GST, TDS/TCS and other statutory compliances.
Chaudhary requested the Finance Ministry to give urgent consideration to the representation and consider exercising the powers available under the Income-tax law for granting the requested extension. CA Sansaar
