The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Mumbai Zonal Unit, has seized 9.40 kg of foreign-origin gold valued at around ₹15 crore at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai. Acting on specific intelligence, DRI officials intercepted three passengers arriving from Dubai in the early hours of September 23, 2026, with operational assistance from the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU), Mumbai Airport Customs.
According to the Ministry of Finance update, the gold was allegedly concealed in the form of gold powder ingeniously blended with food products, including milk powder, oats, rice flour and cake mix. The three passengers have been arrested in connection with the suspected gold-smuggling operation, and further investigation is underway. CASansaar
