ITR Filing Deadline for AY 2026-27: Non-Audit Taxpayers Must File by August 31

The Income Tax Department has reminded taxpayers having business or professional income that the due date for filing non-audit Income Tax Returns (ITRs) for Assessment Year (AY) 2026-27 is August 31, 2026.

The deadline applies to eligible taxpayers required to file ITR-3, ITR-4, ITR-5 and ITR-7, where the accounts are not subject to tax audit. Taxpayers covered under these categories are advised to complete their return filing within the prescribed deadline to avoid last-minute technical issues and potential consequences associated with delayed filing.

The Income Tax Department has urged taxpayers to log in to the e-filing portal and submit their returns before the due date. Taxpayers should ensure that the required information and supporting details are correctly reported while filing their returns.

Key Details:

  • Assessment Year: 2026-27
  • Applicable Returns: ITR-3, ITR-4, ITR-5 and ITR-7
  • Category: Non-audit taxpayers with business or professional income
  • Due Date: August 31, 2026
  • Filing Mode: Online through the Income Tax e-filing portal

Taxpayers yet to file their returns are advised to complete the process at the earliest rather than waiting until the final date. CASansaar
