The 57th GST Council Meeting, earlier scheduled for 12 September 2026, has been rescheduled to 7 October 2026. The officers’ meeting will now be held on 5–6 October in New Delhi. Final agenda and venue details will follow separately.
The GST Council has not met in over a year since its 56th meeting on September 3, 2025, when it approved a major rate overhaul, reducing the number of GST rates to three — 5%, 18% and 40%.
The 57th GST Council meeting is also expected to see several changes in its membership, with three major states — West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Kerala — having seen changes in government. West Bengal Finance Minister Swapan Dasgupta is expected to attend the meeting, while Kerala Chief Minister VD Satheesan and Tamil Nadu Finance Minister Dr N Marie Wilson are likely to represent their respective states.
