ED Files PMLA Prosecution Complaint Against FIITJEE, Directors Over ₹85.79 Cr Student Fee Misappropriation

The Enforcement Directorate’s Lucknow Zonal Office has filed a Prosecution Complaint before the Special PMLA Court, Ghaziabad against FIITJEE Ltd. and its directors Dinesh Kumar Goel and Monila Goel in a money-laundering case linked to alleged misappropriation of student fees. ED has sought their conviction and confiscation of ₹71.88 crore worth of seized and provisionally attached properties.

The Directorate of Enforcement (ED), Lucknow Zonal Office, on 15 October 2026, filed a Prosecution Complaint before the Special PMLA Court, Ghaziabad against M/s FIITJEE Limited and its directors Dinesh Kumar Goel and Monila Goel for the alleged offence of money laundering connected with the misappropriation of fees collected from students. ED has sought conviction of the accused and confiscation of assets worth ₹71.88 crore that were seized or provisionally attached during the investigation.

The ED investigation was initiated on the basis of four FIRs registered by Uttar Pradesh Police at Noida and Greater Noida and by Madhya Pradesh Police at Bhopal. The FIRs alleged that FIITJEE collected advance fees of around ₹2.8 lakh to ₹3.5 lakh per student for two-to-four-year coaching programmes, including JEE preparation, but several centres later shut down after faculty members left due to unpaid salaries. The complaint further alleges that student fees were diverted and that fresh admissions continued even after the management allegedly knew that the programmes could not be delivered.

According to ED, FIITJEE abruptly closed 32 centres between May 2024 and February 2025, affecting 14,411 enrolled students. The agency has quantified the portion of fees allegedly retained and misappropriated as ₹85.79 crore, which it has treated as proceeds of crime in the case.

The investigation also examined remuneration paid to the directors. ED states that Dinesh Kumar Goel and Monila Goel together received ₹24.92 crore as salary from FY 2022-23 onwards. The press release says Dinesh Kumar Goel drew about ₹56 lakh per month, while Monila Goel received more than ₹25 lakh per month, even as salaries of other employees were allegedly delayed or remained unpaid.

ED had earlier conducted searches at seven premises on 24 April 2025, during which it seized ₹10 lakh in cash and jewellery worth ₹4.86 crore. It subsequently provisionally attached properties worth ₹66.92 crore on 9 October 2026 under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002.

The agency has stated that further investigation is continuing.
