Lokayukta Police Arrest Central GST Official in ₹8 Lakh Bribery Trap Case

Lokayukta Police have arrested a Central GST official, identified as Mohit Pratap Singh, for allegedly accepting a ₹8 lakh bribe through an intermediary. The official was reportedly caught during a trap operation while the alleged bribe amount was being handed over at his office.

Police also arrested the alleged middleman, identified as Salman Sheik, in connection with the case.

According to the Lokayukta Police, Singh had allegedly sought ₹20 lakh from a businessman engaged in the iron-materials trade in relation to a tax-evasion case registered against him. Police said the businessman claimed that the complaint was false and that the official demanded money for closing the matter.

The alleged demand was subsequently reduced to ₹8 lakh, following which the Lokayukta authorities conducted a trap operation. The official was allegedly apprehended with the cash, and further investigation is underway. CASansaar
