Haryana ACB Arrests CA and GST Officer accepting ₹3 Lakh Alleged Bribe

The Haryana Anti-Corruption Bureau has arrested a Chartered Accountant and an Excise and Taxation Officer of the GST Department in Jind in connection with an alleged bribery case.

According to the complaint, the taxpayer had received a GST notice concerning alleged tax evasion of approximately ₹75 lakh. The complainant alleged that GST Department ETO Divesh Sahu demanded ₹5 lakh through CA Ajay Sharma for settling the matter.

Acting on the complaint, an ACB team led by Inspector Mahender Singh laid a trap under the supervision of an appointed duty magistrate. The complainant was allegedly instructed to deliver ₹3 lakh to the CA’s office on Bhiwani Road.

The ACB reportedly apprehended the CA after the money was handed over and recovered the marked currency notes during the search. Following questioning, the ACB arrested the ETO from the GST office situated at Jind’s Mini Secretariat.

A case has reportedly been registered against both under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and further investigation is underway. The allegations remain subject to investigation and judicial determination. Times of India report
