More than 7.5 crore Income Tax Returns (ITRs) have already been filed for Assessment Year (AY) 2026-27, according to an update shared by the Income Tax Department.
The Department has reminded taxpayers falling under the non-audit category, including individuals and professionals with business or professional income, that the deadline for filing their ITR is August 31, 2026.
Taxpayers who are yet to file their ITR-3, ITR-4, ITR-5 or ITR-7, as applicable, have been advised to complete the filing before the deadline and avoid waiting until the last moment.
