The 57th meeting of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council, chaired by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, is set to take place in New Delhi on September 12. An officials-level meeting is scheduled for September 11 ahead of the Council’s deliberations, as per an office memorandum issued by the GST Council Secretariat.
The upcoming meeting will bring together the Centre and state finance ministers after a gap of more than a year. The previous, 56th GST Council meeting was held on September 3–4, 2025, when the Centre and states agreed to a significant restructuring of GST rates and tax slabs. CASansaar
